
Germany's continued investment in transmission infrastructure is creating new opportunities for engineering and construction firms supporting the country's energy transition. Jacobs has secured a position on a seven-year framework agreement with transmission system operator TransnetBW to provide multidisciplinary services for grid expansion initiatives designed to strengthen the national electricity network.
Under the agreement, Jacobs will deliver commercial and technical support across multiple transmission projects. The scope includes project controls, risk management, engineering, permitting, environmental services, system technology, site investigations, and construction oversight.
The services will extend from early planning and environmental studies through engineering, procurement, and construction support, helping coordinate project delivery while addressing regulatory, environmental, and stakeholder requirements. TransnetBW will continue to oversee overall governance and program management.
The framework builds on Jacobs' experience delivering transmission infrastructure projects in Germany, including work on the SuedLink high-voltage underground transmission program.
Germany continues to expand and modernize its electricity transmission network as renewable generation capacity increases and electrification accelerates across industrial, transportation, and building sectors. Investments in transmission infrastructure are intended to improve grid reliability, strengthen connections across the European power system, and accommodate growing renewable energy resources.
