JCB to Open Illinois Parts Hub

Caroline Raffetto

PLAINFIELD, Ill. — JCB has broken ground on a massive new parts distribution center in Plainfield, Illinois, a move that underscores the equipment manufacturer’s long-term investment strategy in North America. Developed in partnership with logistics provider DSV, the multi-client facility will provide JCB with a centralized hub for parts distribution across the Midwest and beyond.

“This groundbreaking represents more than just a building,” said Clyde Shepherd, North American parts operations GM, JCB North America. “[B]eing closer to a major logistics hub means faster fulfillment and shipping. We’re positioning ourselves closer to where our machines work so our customers can stay productive.”

The Plainfield site is strategically located in one of the nation’s most vital logistics corridors, less than 40 miles from O’Hare International Airport and with direct access to I-55, I-80, I-90, and I-94. The location ensures connectivity to air, road, and rail networks, giving JCB faster, more efficient pathways to deliver critical machine parts.

The facility itself is designed for scale and efficiency. Owned and operated by DSV, the site will span 804,000 square feet in total, with over 740,000 square feet of floor space, a 43,725-square-foot mezzanine, and 22,268 square feet of office space. JCB will occupy 275,000 square feet, consolidating and expanding operations previously based in Aurora, Illinois.

Built with high-volume logistics in mind, the warehouse will include:

  • 75 dock doors for streamlined loading and unloading
  • 3 drive-in doors for oversized equipment access
  • 40-foot ceiling height for advanced storage capacity
  • Support for e-commerce fulfillment, returns management, repackaging, kitting, and relabeling

According to JCB, the facility will serve as the company’s Midwest logistics hub, strengthening its ability to deliver parts quickly and reduce downtime for customers in the field.

The Plainfield warehouse will join JCB’s existing North American logistics network, which includes parts distribution sites in Miami; Grimsby, Canada; and Ontario, California. Together, the strategically located hubs form a network designed to ensure timely parts delivery wherever JCB machines are working.

Industry observers note that JCB’s expansion into Plainfield highlights the growing importance of centralized, high-capacity logistics centers for heavy equipment manufacturers. With supply chain resiliency now a top priority, proximity to transportation corridors and major markets gives companies like JCB a competitive advantage in both speed and reliability.

The new center will not only streamline JCB’s supply chain but also support the company’s growing customer base in North America, where demand for construction and agricultural machinery remains strong.
