The transaction, which closed on July 31, 2026, combines the organizations' long histories in the construction industry while maintaining Henry Carlson's local workforce and ongoing projects.
Founded in 1919, Henry Carlson Construction has established a longstanding presence across South Dakota through commercial construction and regional client relationships. Following the acquisition, Henry Carlson employees will remain based in the company's Sioux Falls headquarters and its Aberdeen office.
JE Dunn stated that existing construction projects, client commitments, and daily operations will continue without interruption as integration activities move forward. Local project teams will remain in place while gaining access to JE Dunn's broader national resources and operational capabilities.
The acquisition represents JE Dunn's continued investment in the South Dakota construction market, where the company sees opportunities for future growth. By combining Henry Carlson's regional experience with JE Dunn's national construction platform, the organization aims to expand available resources for employees, clients, and industry partners.
