Awards Span Public, Educational and Commercial Construction
Construction awards recognising safety, quality, innovation and project teamwork provide a view of delivery performance across different building sectors. JE Dunn Construction received six regional honours in the 2026 Engineering News-Record (ENR) Best Projects programme, covering projects across several U.S. markets.
The awards programme evaluates projects within 10 regional editions and 18 specialised categories. JE Dunn’s recognised work includes facilities designed for emergency coordination, university housing, industrial operations and vehicle distribution, as well as a corporate headquarters renovation.
Four projects were named Best Project winners, and two received Awards of Merit.
Project Details Across Six Locations
The recognised projects vary considerably in scale and operational purpose.
- Kansas City, Missouri: JE Dunn’s headquarters renovation received a Best Project award in the Interior/Tenant Improvement category. The 190,000-square-foot project introduced flexible work areas, meeting spaces and indoor-outdoor social areas while maintaining building operations during construction.
- Blaine, Minnesota: The State of Minnesota Emergency Operations Center received a Best Project award in the Government/Public Building category. The 36,000-square-foot facility was designed to support continuous operations and emergency response coordination.
- Laramie, Wyoming: The University of Wyoming’s new student housing and dining development earned a Best Project award. The 307,000-square-foot project includes a six-storey North Residence Hall with 220 units and a two-storey dining facility accommodating 850 people, alongside a five-storey South Residence Hall with 285 units.
- Baytown, Texas: ExxonMobil’s Central Shop received an Award of Merit in the Manufacturing category. The 120,000-square-foot facility combines mechanical shop space with a two-storey office and supports machining, fabrication, welding, compressor overhauls and industrial maintenance.
- Jacksonville, Florida: The Southeast Toyota Distributors Vehicle Processing Center at JAXPORT earned a Best Project award in the Energy/Industrial category. The development spans 88 acres and comprises nine buildings, including a 272,000-square-foot accessory installation facility for vehicles entering distribution.
- Central Point, Oregon: The Oregon State Police Southern Command Center received an Award of Merit in the Government/Public Building category. The 50,000-square-foot project modernised and expanded the existing facility to bring law enforcement, dispatch, forensic services, emergency response and medical examiner functions into an integrated regional centre.
Diverse Facilities Reflect Different Delivery Requirements
The award-winning portfolio covers projects with distinct construction and operational demands. The headquarters renovation required work to proceed while the building remained in use, while the Minnesota emergency operations centre was designed around continuous readiness and coordinated response.
The Wyoming university development combines residential and dining functions at substantial scale. Industrial projects in Texas and Florida require specialised space and infrastructure to support manufacturing-related work and vehicle processing, while the Oregon command centre consolidates multiple public safety functions.
Implications for Construction Owners
The six awards provide construction owners and developers with examples of JE Dunn’s work across occupied-building renovations, institutional facilities, industrial construction and public-sector projects. The variety of project types also highlights the different operational requirements that must be addressed during planning and delivery.
For owners evaluating construction teams, relevant considerations include experience with specialised building functions, continuity of existing operations and coordination among multiple facility users. The awards recognise the completed projects within their respective regional categories but do not, by themselves, establish comparative cost or schedule performance.
