Caroline Raffetto

HUNTSVILLE, Ala. — Ardent Preschool & Daycare in Jones Valley is undergoing a major expansion, marking one of the largest recent building projects in Alabama. The $3.6 million project will add 6,000 square feet, increasing the facility’s capacity and modernizing its amenities for students and staff.

The project, led by Fite Construction, includes:

  • Six new classrooms
  • Space for 90 additional students
  • Indoor playroom
  • Expanded outdoor play areas
  • Larger break room for teachers

Construction is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, providing families with enhanced early childhood education opportunities in Huntsville.

“This expansion will allow us to accommodate more students and provide modern spaces for learning and play,” said a representative of Ardent Preschool & Daycare.

High-Dollar Permits Across Alabama

This project was among six new million-dollar-plus construction permits issued statewide last week. Other notable projects include:

  • $3.95M Shank Properties development in Jefferson County
  • $2.24M University of Alabama project in Tuscaloosa
  • $2.9M Gene Carfora project in Vestavia Hills

Thanks to Report Construction LLC, which compiles building permit data, Alabama residents and investors can track ongoing large-scale construction projects across the state.

Local Impact

The Jones Valley daycare expansion is expected to create construction jobs during the build and will provide lasting benefits for local families by increasing access to high-quality early childhood education.

“Expansions like this not only support local employment during construction but also improve educational infrastructure for our community,” the representative added.

Huntsville continues to see a steady rise in high-dollar development projects, reflecting growth in residential, educational, and commercial sectors.
