Specialty retail construction requires close coordination between architectural detailing, building systems and customer-facing operations. JRM Construction West has completed a Nespresso boutique at Westfield Century City, an open-air shopping destination in Los Angeles, California.
The project included a structural storefront with oversized glass panels and a series of custom interior finishes. Construction work involved full-height curved walls, curved gypsum board ceilings, smooth plaster surfaces and integrated lighting.
JRM Construction West worked with Valerio Architects, ACIES Engineering and Ludwig Structural Consulting to deliver the retail space.
The boutique includes a dedicated coffee bar designed to support beverage preparation, tastings and demonstrations. Additional features include a self-guided coffee discovery area, roasting and mini masterclass experiences, accessory engraving, capsule recycling and customer seating.
The specialized coffee equipment and supporting infrastructure required coordination with the interior finishes and operational layout. The project combines technical installation requirements with detailed architectural work within a retail environment.
The completed boutique illustrates the coordination required to deliver highly customized retail interiors. Specialty equipment, complex curved finishes, storefront glazing and integrated lighting can create multiple interfaces for construction managers and trade partners to coordinate.
For retail owners and contractors, projects of this type highlight the importance of aligning design details, equipment requirements and building systems during construction to achieve the intended operational layout and finish quality.
