The completion of two food and beverage retail locations in Southern California highlights the construction coordination required to deliver repeatable build-outs while accommodating the infrastructure demands of quick-service restaurant operations. JRM Construction West completed locations for Joe & The Juice in Culver City and Santa Monica as the brand expands its regional footprint.
The projects involved both interior construction and building systems work, including commercial kitchens, plumbing infrastructure, millwork, lighting and restroom improvements.
Commercial kitchen installation represented a significant portion of the construction work at both locations. JRM installed kitchen systems supported by new plumbing infrastructure and trenching required for food and beverage operations.
The build-outs also incorporated millwork packages, upgraded restrooms and lighting systems. Coordinating these elements required integration between architectural finishes and the mechanical and plumbing infrastructure supporting each restaurant.
Completing multiple locations for the same retail operator required JRM to maintain consistency across the projects while adapting construction activities to each individual site.
Planning and coordination with design and engineering partners supported installation of the infrastructure, finishes and other elements needed for the completed spaces. The approach also provides a framework for contractors handling restaurant and retail programs that involve multiple locations within a regional market.
Multi-location restaurant programs can require general contractors to balance standardized brand requirements with the physical conditions and infrastructure constraints of individual sites.
For owners and developers expanding food and beverage concepts, the JRM projects illustrate the importance of coordinating kitchen infrastructure, plumbing, millwork, lighting and finishes within a repeatable construction process. Completing multiple sites under a common program can also help owners maintain consistent operational and customer requirements as their retail footprint grows.
