Landis Construction Opens Pensacola Office in First Expansion Beyond Louisiana

New Orleans-based Landis Construction has officially expanded outside of Louisiana for the first time in its nearly 70-year history, opening a new office in Pensacola, Florida. The move marks a major milestone for the third-generation, family-owned company as it extends its footprint to better serve the Gulf South region — including Northwest Florida, Alabama, and Georgia.
Landis has long been a trusted name in Louisiana, known for building iconic structures in the hospitality, education, commercial, and historic preservation sectors. Now, the company is bringing that same expertise to a rapidly growing part of the Southeast.

“We see Landis as a Gulf South contractor,” said Anne Teague Landis, the company’s president and granddaughter of the founder. “The Pensacola office gives us farther reach along the panhandle and into Alabama and Georgia.”
The decision to expand was shaped in part by lessons learned during Hurricane Ida in 2021. When services in New Orleans were disrupted, the company created a temporary satellite office in Mobile, Alabama, to maintain continuity and support clients and project teams.
“That gave us a first taste (of out of state),” Landis said. The temporary effort not only kept projects moving, but also opened the company’s eyes to new regional opportunities.
Now, that short-term solution has become a long-term strategy.
Pensacola emerged as an ideal location because of its coastal proximity, strong regional economy, and cultural alignment with New Orleans. Landis said the city’s unique blend of growth and community feel made it a natural fit for the company’s first permanent office outside Louisiana.
“We bought a building and have renovated it into our small office there, right off Garden Street,” Landis said. “Both the location and the culture of Pensacola felt like the right fit. Many of our team members have attachments to Pensacola, and it immediately began to feel like home.”
The Pensacola office currently has one full-time employee, with additional hires expected as the company takes on more work in the area. Landis plans to pursue projects similar to those it’s known for in Southeast Louisiana — hospitality developments, educational facilities, civic buildings, and historic restorations.
This calculated expansion underscores the company’s commitment to maintaining its identity and values while also embracing opportunities for growth.
“It’s important to us to remain a cohesive, single company,” Landis said. “This is an adventure for us. Being adventurous has risks, and this certainly does, but it also gives us the chance to broaden the impact of building lasting relationships to provide better opportunities for all of us.”
Landis Construction has earned a reputation for its collaborative spirit, attention to detail, and deep community ties. With its new Pensacola office, the firm is positioning itself to deliver that same quality and service to a wider range of clients throughout the Gulf South.
The move comes at a time when the construction industry in the region is experiencing steady growth, with demand increasing for infrastructure, residential, hospitality, and institutional projects — particularly in fast-growing coastal and inland cities across Florida and neighboring states.
By establishing a permanent presence in Pensacola, Landis aims to play a key role in that growth while maintaining the values and standards that have defined its legacy since 1956.
