Landry/French Construction has officially opened a new office in downtown St. Petersburg, Florida, marking the Maine-based firm’s strategic expansion into the Southeast.

The move strengthens the company’s growing footprint beyond Northern New England and reinforces its long-term commitment to the Florida market. To lead regional operations, the firm has appointed Scott Hutchison as Regional Executive Vice President for the Southeast.

The new St. Petersburg office will serve as a hub for projects across Florida and surrounding states, supporting Landry/French’s established strengths in healthcare, education, aviation, commercial, and industrial construction.

“Expanding into the Southeast is a natural next step for our firm,” said Kevin French, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Landry/French Construction. “Scott brings deep regional knowledge, strong leadership, and a proven track record of building successful teams and client relationships. We’re excited to have him lead our efforts and establish a strong foundation in this market.”

Leadership Appointment Signals Long-Term Growth Strategy

Hutchison brings more than three decades of experience in the construction industry. His career began in the field as a Superintendent and advanced through Project Manager, Project Executive, Director of Construction, and Vice President roles. His background spans regional operations, business development, and delivery of complex projects throughout the Southeast.

In his new role, Hutchison will oversee regional strategy, operational performance, and business development while building and leading a Florida-based team.

“St. Petersburg is an exciting and meaningful location for Landry/French as we expand into the Southeast”, said Scott Hutchison. “Having been born and raised in St. Petersburg, it’s especially rewarding to continue building in the community while establishing a strong local team and delivering the high-quality projects the firm is known for.”

Recent project experience under Hutchison’s leadership includes ground-up cancer treatment facilities and medical office buildings across Florida, along with high-profile commercial developments such as a luxury retail flagship in Miami and a major event center in Tampa.

Hutchison holds a degree in Business Management from Florida State University and maintains a Florida General Contractor’s License.

Building Momentum in the Southeast

The Florida expansion follows Landry/French’s 2024 acquisition of Melbourne-based MH Williams Construction Group, a move that significantly expanded the firm’s capabilities in the region.

In addition to Hutchison’s appointment, the company has strengthened its Florida team with Daniel Iwano as Project Superintendent and Denise Young as Client Relations Manager. Together, the team will focus on delivering projects efficiently while cultivating long-term client relationships.

Founded in 2010, Landry/French is a 100% employee-owned company providing construction management, general contracting, and design-build services. The firm has earned national recognition, including placement on the Engineering News-Record Top 400 Contractors list in 2025 and six consecutive years as a Top New England Contractor.

By establishing a permanent presence in St. Petersburg, Landry/French is positioning itself to compete more aggressively in the Southeast’s growing construction market — particularly in sectors experiencing sustained demand such as healthcare, life sciences, and industrial development.

Company leaders say the expansion reflects not only geographic growth but a broader strategy to diversify project portfolios and align with regions experiencing strong population and economic gains.
