Bridge rehabilitation and interstate reconstruction work continue driving transportation construction activity across the Upper Midwest as state agencies advance highway modernization and maintenance programs.

Lunda Construction, a subsidiary of Tutor Perini, secured two highway infrastructure contracts in Minnesota with a combined value of approximately $101 million, including major bridge and interchange work in the Minneapolis market.

Interstate Rehabilitation Program

The larger of the two projects is a $67.2 million contract tied to the I-94 and I-394 interchange corridor in Minneapolis.

Project work includes repairs to 34 bridges and ramps located between downtown Minneapolis and Highway 100. The contract scope also includes maintenance improvements on the Dunwoody Boulevard ramp and replacement of the Penn Avenue bridge deck crossing over I-394.

Additional roadway and interchange improvements are planned along the I-394 corridor as part of the broader rehabilitation program.

Highway 169 Improvements

Lunda Construction also secured a $34 million transportation contract for work along Highway 169 in Jordan, Minnesota, located southwest of Minneapolis.

The announcement did not disclose additional project specifications or delivery timelines for the Highway 169 work.

Lunda Construction is based in Black River Falls, Wisconsin, and performs bridge, heavy civil and transportation infrastructure construction projects throughout the Midwest.

Transportation Infrastructure Activity Continues Across Minnesota

State transportation agencies continue advancing bridge rehabilitation and interstate maintenance programs as aging roadway infrastructure drives demand for heavy civil construction services.

What This Means For Construction Owners

For contractors and transportation owners, projects involving bridge rehabilitation and interchange reconstruction often require phased construction schedules, traffic management coordination and specialized structural repair capabilities to minimize disruptions along heavily traveled corridors. The Minnesota awards also reflect continued public infrastructure spending focused on extending roadway asset life and improving long-term transportation reliability.
