BLACK RIVER FALLS, Wis. – Tutor Perini Corporation (NYSE: TPC) announced that its subsidiary, Lunda Construction Company, has been awarded a $19.7 million contract for the I-41 Bridges Project in northeast Wisconsin. The effort is part of a broader plan to modernize and expand the busy I-41 corridor between Appleton and Green Bay.
The project calls for the removal of eight deteriorating bridges, which will be replaced with new, widened, and lengthened structures designed to accommodate future traffic growth and safety improvements. Two additional structures will be widened in the first phase to help manage traffic flow during construction.
A key component of the project will be the installation of over 125,000 feet of temporary concrete barrier wall, a safety measure intended to keep vehicles moving safely while work is underway.
Work is expected to begin in September 2025, with substantial completion anticipated by November 2027. The contract’s value will be added to Tutor Perini’s backlog in the third quarter of 2025.
This bridge work is considered a critical part of the I-41 expansion program, a long-term infrastructure investment by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT). The expansion aims to relieve congestion, improve safety, and support regional economic growth as traffic volumes continue to rise along one of the state’s most heavily traveled routes.
Founded in 1894, Tutor Perini has built a reputation for handling large, complex projects on time and within budget, with strict safety and quality measures in place. Its subsidiary, Lunda Construction, has extensive experience in bridge building and heavy civil construction across the Midwest.
According to the company, the I-41 contract reflects both its long-standing relationship with WisDOT and its ability to self-perform major construction tasks, including earthwork, excavation, concrete placement, steel erection, and electrical and mechanical work. This approach allows Tutor Perini and Lunda to maintain tighter control over quality and schedules.
The project is expected to not only improve infrastructure reliability but also provide a boost to the local construction workforce and suppliers throughout Wisconsin. As traffic volumes continue to grow in the Appleton–Green Bay corridor, the modernized bridges will play a pivotal role in keeping commerce and commuters moving safely and efficiently.
