MAQRO Construction Forms Strategic Alliance with Korea’s HEERIM Architects for Global Projects

MAQRO Construction, a prominent player in Georgia’s construction and infrastructure sector, has entered into a strategic partnership with renowned South Korean architectural firm HEERIM ARCHITECTS & PLANNERS. The two companies formalized their collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), signaling a new era of international cooperation and architectural innovation.

The MoU outlines HEERIM’s involvement in a wide range of projects undertaken by MAQRO Construction, both within Georgia and internationally. The agreement covers a broad scope of services including urban master planning, architectural and structural design, construction oversight, and end-to-end project and process management.

“Today, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between MAQRO Construction and HEERIM. HEERIM is a large international company operating in the field of design,” said Emin Uçar, Founder of MAQRO Group.
“We already have a successful history of cooperation. I would especially like to highlight the large-scale ‘Azer Gold Project’ implemented in Azerbaijan — a gold mining and production enterprise. HEERIM is a key strategic partner for us, and we are united by shared goals in Georgia as well,” Uçar noted.

He added that the two firms are already collaborating on the “MAQRO City Tbilisi” residential development and have ambitious plans for future joint initiatives, including the construction of a new stadium and an international airport.

“We also aim to jointly implement projects such as a new stadium and airport, fully utilizing HEERIM’s professional expertise in these areas. This partnership is particularly important and valuable for us. Once again, I congratulate both parties on this significant step toward strengthening our collaboration,” Uçar concluded.

For MAQRO Construction, this memorandum is a major milestone as the company continues to strengthen its global presence and integrate world-class design and engineering into its projects.

Jeong Young Kyoon, Chairman of HEERIM ARCHITECTS & PLANNERS, echoed this sentiment with enthusiasm.

“Today is a special day. It is a great honor for us to sign a memorandum with MAQRO Construction. I believe MAQRO is one of the leading companies in Georgia’s development market, and HEERIM is a globally recognized architectural firm,” said Kyoon.

With more than five decades of experience, HEERIM brings a wealth of expertise in designing complex infrastructure including airports, high-end hotels, sports facilities, and international-standard stadiums.

“Our 55 years of experience span key areas such as the architectural design of airports, hotels, sports infrastructure, and international-standard stadiums. This partnership aims to create high-quality infrastructure not only in Georgia but also internationally,” Kyoon added.

Kyoon emphasized that the collaboration extends beyond architectural design and into broader infrastructure development.

“Our cooperation will not be limited to architectural work — we plan to participate in various infrastructure projects as well,” he said.

He also praised Georgia’s development trajectory, noting its appeal as a growing tourist destination.

“Georgia is a country with enormous potential. This is my third visit, and each time I see the country’s impressive progress — economically and in tourism. Its natural beauty and charming destinations attract many people, and I truly believe Georgia will soon become one of the world’s leading tourist destinations.”

This strategic alliance reflects a broader trend of cross-border partnerships aimed at combining regional insight with global expertise. For Georgia, it represents an opportunity to elevate construction quality and urban design to internationally recognized standards.

With several high-profile projects on the horizon, including key public infrastructure, this partnership between MAQRO and HEERIM is expected to deliver tangible economic and urban development outcomes in the coming years.
