MARS Energy Group has acquired Citadel Roofing & Solar, expanding its residential roofing and solar platform and increasing its presence across California’s new construction market.

The acquisition brings more than 1,000 employees into the MARS organization and combines Citadel’s Northern California roofing and solar operations with MARS’ broader energy infrastructure capabilities.

Acquisition Expands Residential Construction Platform

Founded in 2015, Citadel Roofing & Solar provides roofing and solar services for residential new construction projects and homeowners. The company works with major homebuilders and also provides reroofing and retrofit solar installations.

The acquisition strengthens MARS’ ability to serve homebuilders across California through an integrated platform covering roofing, solar, storage and electrification.

Citadel will continue operating under its existing management team, including President Dieter Folk. The company’s leadership and customer-facing operations are expected to remain in place following the transaction.

MARS Builds California Market Presence

The acquisition represents MARS Energy Group’s 11th acquisition as the company continues building an energy infrastructure platform across the United States.

For homebuilders and residential contractors, the combination of roofing and solar capabilities can support project coordination as California’s residential construction market increasingly incorporates energy-related systems.

MARS said the partnership will provide Citadel with additional resources and operational support while allowing the company to maintain its existing workforce, customer relationships and operating culture.

The transaction also reflects continued consolidation among specialty contractors as companies seek greater geographic scale, broader service capabilities and additional resources to serve residential development markets.
