Asbestos exposure remains a safety concern for mechanical contractors working in older buildings, renovation projects and maintenance environments where hazardous materials may be present. The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) has added an asbestos awareness training package to help workers recognize potential hazards and understand appropriate protection practices.

Training Package Covers Asbestos Hazards

The training provides workers with fundamental information about asbestos and the conditions in which it can be encountered during construction and mechanical work.

Topics include the nature of asbestos, locations where it may be present on a jobsite, potential health hazards and methods for recognizing possible asbestos exposure risks. The material also addresses measures workers can take to protect themselves when working around suspected asbestos-containing materials.
