The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) has graduated the latest participants in its Institute for Project Management (IPM), with Classes 97 and 98 completing the program in Austin, Texas. The two classes brought together project managers from MCAA member companies across the country for intensive training focused on mechanical construction project delivery.
During the second week of the program, participants addressed challenges associated with managing mechanical construction projects. Coursework included contract clauses, change orders, preconstruction activities and project closeout.
The training combined classroom instruction with interactive exercises and real-world scenarios, giving participants opportunities to apply project management concepts to situations encountered during construction work.
Classes 97 and 98 completed their second week of instruction in September. MCAA's event schedule lists the second week for Class 97 from Sept. 20-24 and for Class 98 from Sept. 21-25 in Austin.
The IPM is MCAA's long-running project management education program and is intended for professionals with at least three years of experience managing mechanical construction projects.
The program addresses project management fundamentals and the business considerations involved in managing projects for profitability. MCAA's Austin schedule also shows additional IPM classes planned for later in 2026 and into 2027, indicating continued programming for mechanical construction professionals.
For mechanical contractors, structured project management training provides a way to strengthen capabilities across contract administration, project controls, preconstruction and closeout. The latest graduating classes add another group of trained project managers to the MCAA member-company workforce.
