Construction field leadership remains a key factor in project execution, workforce management, and client relationships. The Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA) will bring field supervisors and construction managers together this September for its 2026 Field Leaders Conference in Portland, Oregon, with programming focused on leadership, communication, and business management skills.
Scheduled for Sept. 16-18, 2026, the conference is being supported and co-hosted by the Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association of Oregon (PMCA of Oregon).
Educational sessions will emphasize practical leadership skills for field personnel, including communication with project teams, subcontractors, owners, and company management. The program also includes training on conflict resolution and strategies for improving jobsite collaboration.
Industry consultant Kevin Dougherty will lead a featured session on communication practices designed to help field leaders manage workplace relationships and support company performance.
The United Association's International Training Fund (ITF) is offering $5,500 grants for eligible UA/MCAA Foreman Administrators who attend one of the 2026 MCAA Field Leaders Conferences.
The grants are available to qualified UA members responsible for administering the union's Foreman Certification Program.
Registration for the Portland conference is currently open.
As labor shortages continue across the construction industry, contractors are placing greater emphasis on developing field supervisors who can improve jobsite communication, workforce coordination, safety, and project delivery. Industry training events provide opportunities for companies to strengthen leadership capabilities while preparing field personnel for expanded management responsibilities.
