Workforce shortages and expanding demand for specialized mechanical systems are creating important planning challenges for mechanical contractors. A session at MCAA27 will bring labor leaders and contracting executives together to examine workforce development, business growth and industry productivity.
Scheduled participants include United Association General President Mark McManus, Assistant General President Mike Pleasant and Administrative Assistant to the General President Chris Haslinger. They will join Mechanical Contractors Association of America President Curtis Harbour, John W. Danforth Company CEO Robert Beck and The Pool & Kent Corporation CEO Adam Snavely.
Mark Rogers, president of West Chester Mechanical Contractors, is scheduled to moderate the discussion.
The session will address opportunities associated with artificial intelligence, data center construction, advanced manufacturing, health care and infrastructure investment. These sectors create demand for mechanical systems and specialized installation expertise.
At the same time, an aging workforce is increasing the importance of recruiting, training and retaining skilled professionals. Contractors must consider how apprenticeship pathways, workforce development and labor-management cooperation can support project delivery and business continuity.
Productivity and leadership will also feature in the discussion, reflecting the industry's need to develop its workforce while responding to changing project requirements.
The session will examine how collaboration between labor organizations and employers can help address workforce constraints and support growth across mechanical contracting markets.
For contractors, owners and industry leaders, the discussion's focus on training, productivity and emerging sectors offers a framework for considering future staffing requirements and operational priorities. The event is part of MCAA27, the Mechanical Contractors Association of America's annual conference.
