Meta and EDP Renewables North America have entered into a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 250-megawatt solar project in Arkansas, marking another step in the tech giant’s push to expand clean energy infrastructure across the United States.

The project, known as Cypress Knee Solar, will be developed by EDPR North America and is expected to be completed by 2028. The agreement increases the total clean energy capacity procured between the two companies to 545 MW, strengthening a multi-year partnership focused on renewable energy deployment.
The deal aligns with Meta’s broader commitment to match 100% of its annual electricity use with clean and renewable energy sources, while also contributing new generation capacity to the U.S. power grid.
Cypress Knee Solar is expected to generate significant economic and infrastructure benefits for Chicot County, where the project will be located. Once operational, the solar facility is projected to deliver approximately $25 million in new revenue for the county, supporting public services and infrastructure improvements.
During construction, the project will create several hundred jobs, providing a temporary boost to the local workforce and economy.
"Cypress Knee Solar and our broader portfolio of projects with Meta are helping power a reliable, modern U.S. electric grid—the backbone of American innovation and long-term economic growth," said Sandhya Ganapathy, CEO of EDPR NA. "These investments strengthen local communities, create durable economic value, and ensure that progress is built on a resilient, sustainable foundation. EDPR NA is proud to work with Meta as we deliver domestic power and advanced infrastructure that reinforce American energy independence and expand economic opportunity nationwide."
"Through our partnership with EDPR, Cypress Knee Solar will bring new generation to the Arkansas grid, creating local jobs and delivering economic benefits to the community. We're proud to expand our collaboration with EDPR," said Amanda Yang, head of clean and renewable energy at Meta.
The Cypress Knee project is the third agreement between Meta and EDPR North America, reflecting a continued push by large technology companies to secure reliable, long-term renewable energy supplies for data centers and operations.

In addition to energy generation, EDPR has already contributed more than $77,000 to community initiatives in the area, including funding for local schools, robotics programs and food assistance services.
Headquartered in Houston, EDPR North America operates a large portfolio of renewable assets, including wind farms, solar parks and energy storage systems. The company has developed more than 12,900 MW of renewable energy capacity and currently operates over 12,300 MW across North America.
The agreement highlights a broader trend in the energy and construction sectors, where private-sector partnerships are accelerating the development of large-scale renewable infrastructure to meet rising electricity demand and sustainability goals.
