Michels Corporation has expanded the workforce at its Mi-Tech engineering and design division, adding about 50 engineers and designers during the past six months as demand grows for integrated project delivery across utility and infrastructure markets.
Mi-Tech provides engineering and design services that support Michels' construction operations from project planning through construction. The company offers expertise in civil, structural, geotechnical, environmental, and energy engineering, as well as telecommunications design.
According to Michels, recruitment efforts remain ongoing, with openings for civil, mechanical, electrical, and petroleum engineers in addition to design technicians.
The integrated delivery model allows engineering teams to collaborate directly with construction personnel throughout project development, helping improve coordination from design through execution.
Mi-Tech is involved in engineering services for trenchless construction methods, including horizontal directional drilling, microtunneling, auger boring, tunneling, and Direct Pipe installations. These techniques are commonly used for utility, pipeline, and transportation projects where minimizing surface disruption is a priority.
The engineering division also supports projects involving power, gas, telecommunications, environmental infrastructure, and geotechnical engineering, including complex river crossings and installations in environmentally sensitive areas.
As infrastructure owners continue investing in utility modernization, energy systems, and underground construction, demand for engineering expertise remains strong. Expanding engineering teams enables contractors to strengthen in-house design capabilities, improve project coordination, and support design-build and integrated project delivery methods across increasingly complex infrastructure programs.
