NECA Names 2026 Project Excellence Award Winners Across 17 Categories

Highlights

• NECA announced the winners of its 2026 Project Excellence Awards on Aug. 10.
• The program received 109 project submissions covering electrical construction work completed in 2025.
• Winners span 17 categories, including health care, industrial, EV infrastructure, transmission, substations and transportation.
• Recognized projects include the National Medal of Honor Museum, Harvard Treehouse, Revolution Wind and a Utah Transit Authority traction power substation rehabilitation.
• Projects were evaluated on originality, workmanship, installation difficulty, technology use and prefabrication or preconstruction practices.

Award Program Covers Major Electrical Projects

The National Electrical Contractors Association has selected its 2026 Project Excellence Award winners, recognizing electrical contractors involved in complex projects across the United States.

The winning projects cover a broad range of construction sectors, including commercial and institutional facilities, educational buildings, industrial plants, health care facilities, transportation infrastructure, renewable energy and electrical utility systems.

Among the recognized work is Southland Industries' electrical construction for the National Medal of Honor Museum, Morrow-Meadows Corporation's work at the UCSD Theatre District Living and Learning Neighborhood, and Guarantee Electrical Company's PepsiCo bottling and manufacturing plant project.

Infrastructure and Energy Projects Earn Recognition

Several awards focused on electrical infrastructure and emerging energy applications. Lynnwell Associates received recognition for the Boston Public School EV Bus Yard, while Riggs Distler was honored for its Revolution Wind project.

Other infrastructure winners include Sargent Electric Company's Brunot Island Crescent 138 kV transmission line replacement, Citadel Electric Group's Whiteman Air Force Base substation replacement and C3M Power Systems' Utah Transit Authority traction power substation rehabilitation.

The awards also recognized Sturgeon Electric Company for work on the Glenn Highway corridor in Alaska and Thompson Solutions Group for the Cherapa Place residential and mixed-use project.

Project Evaluation Focuses on Construction Execution

NECA evaluated submissions based on construction originality, workmanship quality, installation difficulty, use of technology and application of preconstruction or prefabrication.

The winning teams will receive formal recognition at NECA 2026 in Las Vegas.

Why It Matters

The award list provides construction owners and electrical contractors with examples of projects where specialized electrical systems, technology, prefabrication and complex installation requirements played significant roles. The range of winning projects also reflects the expanding electrical scope associated with transportation, EV infrastructure, energy, industrial and institutional construction.
