The Nevada State Contractors Board is set to host its annual “Hammers & Hope” event in honor of National Women in Construction Week on Tuesday, March 4, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at the Truckee Meadows Community College, Applied Technology Center in Reno, Nevada. This event seeks to inspire female high school and college students, as well as women in the community, to consider a career in the construction industry.

With a special focus on women in need, “Hammers & Hope” aims to provide valuable insight into the wide range of career opportunities available within construction. “Hammers & Hope” will feature a panel discussion led by industry experts who will share information on various career paths in construction, training opportunities, and current job openings.
Additionally, the event will include mentor-led breakout sessions where women professionals in the field will share their personal experiences, offering advice on how to get started in the industry, the skills needed to succeed, and how to build a fulfilling lifelong career in construction.
The event will also feature a career fair with representatives from diverse sectors of the construction industry. These companies will be recruiting future workers and offering access to services to help attendees on their career journeys.
"Hammers & Hope" is a part of the Nevada State Contractors Board’s Commission on Construction Education initiative. This initiative's mission is to improve the quality of the construction industry by funding creative and cost-effective educational programs designed to attract and retain a highly qualified workforce.
The event is expected to help bring more women into construction, a field that has historically been male-dominated. The organizers hope to inspire attendees by offering hands-on knowledge and creating pathways for them to enter and thrive in the industry. By promoting access to construction careers for women, NSCB is contributing to the diversity and inclusivity of the workforce and offering solutions to meet the growing demand for skilled labor in the industry.
Admission to the event is free, but attendees must RSVP by emailing hannah@theferrarogroup.com. For more information, visit the NSCB website: Hammers & Hope - Nevada Contractors Board.
