Ohio’s Woolpert Acquires Dawood Engineering

HARRISBURG, Pa. — July 23, 2025 — An award-winning Pennsylvania engineering firm will soon operate under new ownership, marking a major move for the construction and infrastructure industry in the Northeast.

Woolpert, a Dayton, Ohio-based firm known worldwide for its architecture, engineering, and geospatial services, has officially acquired Dawood Engineering, Inc., a respected Harrisburg-based company with a 33-year track record.

The acquisition, announced this month, brings Dawood’s staff of over 150 professionals into Woolpert’s growing national team — strengthening technical resources and adding new depth in specialized surveying, digital solutions, and infrastructure support.

Proven Legacy, New Momentum

“Throughout our history, we have focused on delivering excellent solutions to our clients, building lasting relationships, and pushing the envelope of our profession,” Dawood stated in its announcement. “Together with Woolpert, we are ideally suited to support the technological and physical infrastructure needed to advance our clients’ objectives. This next chapter, as part of the world’s leading AEG firm, creates an environment where all of our professionals will thrive.”

The Harrisburg-based firm has earned its reputation as a trusted partner for major regional transportation projects — serving as lead engineering and surveying consultant for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation, the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission, the Massachusetts Department of Transportation, and local municipalities. Dawood is also widely recognized for its leadership in the energy and utilities sector.

Deepening Regional Expertise

Woolpert President and CEO Neil Churman praised Dawood’s entrepreneurial approach and expressed enthusiasm for the expanded Pennsylvania footprint.

“We are incredibly proud to welcome the Dawood team to Woolpert. I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Bony for more than a decade, and I’ve seen the innovative, nimble and entrepreneurial approach he has taken to building the business,” Churman said. “I am also thrilled for Woolpert to strengthen our presence in Pennsylvania. Having participated in the Pennsylvania Energy and Innovation Summit in my hometown of Pittsburgh last week, it’s clear that Pennsylvania is going to be a leader in advancing artificial intelligence, data centers, power and energy development, and critical infrastructure — all areas where Woolpert has deep experience supporting our clients. The addition of the Dawood team further builds on our commitment to creating jobs and supporting economic growth in Pennsylvania and beyond.”

Tech-Forward Capabilities

With Dawood’s addition, Woolpert expands its already robust technical offerings. Dawood brings expertise in turnkey surveying, 3D laser scanning, GIS, building information modeling, and digital twin technology — including its Twin Track mobile app, a first-of-its-kind building management tool that reflects Dawood’s innovative edge.

Together, the combined team will offer advanced solutions for clients tackling complex projects in transportation, energy, utilities, and urban development.

This acquisition highlights Woolpert’s strategy to broaden its national impact while investing in high-demand regional markets — and further cements the company’s position as a leader in delivering critical infrastructure for communities in Pennsylvania and beyond.
