Transportation infrastructure activity across New York and New Jersey continues to represent a major portion of Parsons Corporation’s regional work, with the company highlighting nearly 500 infrastructure projects delivered or supported across the two states during the past decade.
The company said its contracts in the region have reached nearly $12 billion, while project teams have been involved in programs representing more than $52 billion in constructed value across transportation, water, environmental and related infrastructure markets.
Parsons is serving as managing partner of the MPA Delivery Partners joint venture on the Hudson Tunnel Project. The program involves construction of two new rail tunnels beneath the Hudson River and rehabilitation of the existing North River Tunnel.
The project is intended to increase capacity and improve reliability and resiliency along a heavily used section of the Northeast Corridor, which supports approximately 800,000 passenger trips each day.
In New York, Parsons has also served as lead designer for the Hunts Point Interstate Access Improvement project, supporting freight movement, pedestrian safety and access to the South Bronx food distribution area.
The company is involved in transportation improvements at John F. Kennedy International Airport, including roadway, utility and ground transportation work. Parsons also contributed to Grand Central Madison and is deploying its iNET smart mobility platform across New York State Department of Transportation districts.
Parsons is leading design activities for the Newark AirTrain Replacement Program and the Newark Bay Bridge replacement while supporting modernization efforts at Newark Penn Station.
The company previously provided design and construction services for the $2.7 billion redevelopment of Newark Liberty International Airport Terminal A. The project added passenger capacity and upgraded transportation connections, building systems and sustainability features.
Other regional work includes the Brooklyn Bridge Rehabilitation Project, which received an American Council of Engineering Companies of New York Diamond Award, and the Goethals Bridge Replacement Project, the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey’s first public-private partnership bridge project.
