New York is advancing its transportation technology infrastructure with a statewide investment in intelligent traffic management. Parsons Corporation has been awarded a $33 million contract by the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT) to modernize the agency's Transportation Systems Management and Operations (TSMO) platform.
Under the contract, Parsons will deploy its iNET intelligent transportation software across all 11 NYSDOT districts. The scope includes enterprise-wide system design, software development, integration, testing, and ongoing operations and maintenance.
The platform will provide a centralized view of freeway and arterial traffic operations, enabling the department to coordinate transportation management activities across the state through a unified system.
The award expands Parsons' portfolio of statewide advanced traffic management system deployments following similar programs in Georgia and New Jersey.
In addition to deploying the software platform, Parsons will replace central processing unit cards in more than 6,000 traffic signal controllers throughout New York.
The modernization program is intended to improve operational efficiency, enhance traffic management capabilities and support NYSDOT's long-term Transportation Systems Management and Operations strategy.
