The precast and prestressed concrete industry gathered in San Antonio from Sept. 8-11 for the 2026 PCI Committee Days, with attendance reaching 656 members and guests, nearly 10% above the previous year.
Hosted by the Precast/Prestressed Concrete Institute, the event brought industry professionals together for committee and council meetings covering technical standards, market development, education and other industry priorities.
The PCI Membership Luncheon on Sept. 9 recognized several professionals and organizations for contributions to precast concrete.
Mike Wolff, vice president of operations at Basin Precast, received the T. Henry Clark Award for contributions that improve the quality of precast and prestressed concrete products or processes.
M. Larbi Sennour, president of CEG-International, received the Norman L. Scott Professional Engineer Award for his work across PCI technical activities and committees.
Terri Ward, director of marketing at Metromont, received the PCI Marketing Individual Achievement Award. Wells received the PCI Marketing Company Achievement Award for its long-term marketing efforts within the precast industry.
PCI also recognized technical publications and research during the event. The ninth edition of the PCI Design Handbook: Precast and Prestressed Concrete received the Leslie D. Martin Certificate of Merit Award for technical excellence.
The Martin P. Korn Award recognized Malcolm L. Ammons, Jonathan M. Weigand, Majd Hijazi and Travis E. Thonstad for research examining precast concrete beam-to-column moment connections and collapse resistance.
Other research awards addressed concrete failure modes in strand lifting loops, insulated wall panel connector testing and corrosion-damaged pile bents using carbon-fiber-reinforced polymer.
The awards program highlighted the industry's ongoing focus on technical research, construction practices, transportation infrastructure and product performance.
Beyond technical meetings, attendees participated in networking events including the Women in Precast Dinner and Leadership PCI social event.
The event provided a forum for PCI members to work through industry standards and initiatives while connecting producers, engineers, architects, erectors, suppliers, educators and other professionals involved in precast concrete construction.
The strong attendance also provides an indicator of continued engagement across the PCI membership as the industry addresses technical development, education, quality assurance and market needs.
For construction owners and project teams, developments in precast standards, research and certification can influence material selection, design coordination, quality requirements and construction execution on projects using precast and prestressed concrete systems.
