Emergency crews responded to a startling scene Monday morning in Washington after a truck ran off the road and crashed into a building under construction. The incident occurred just after 8:25 a.m. near Brookview Drive, along East Fifth Street, according to local authorities.

According to a statement from police, the driver was traveling along Fifth Street when the vehicle veered off the roadway and rolled into a townhome unit that is currently under construction. The force of the crash caused significant damage to part of the structure, though fortunately, no workers were inside at the time.

“Police said the driver appears to have been driving on Fifth Street when his truck ran off the road and into a town home unit under construction across from Brookview.”

Emergency responders quickly arrived on the scene. Witnesses reported hearing a loud crash followed by the sounds of sirens. The driver, whose identity has not yet been released, was able to exit the vehicle on his own and appeared alert.

“The driver was able to exit the vehicle and walk around after the crash.”

Officials confirmed that no injuries were immediately reported, either to the driver or any bystanders. Paramedics evaluated the man at the scene, but he declined to be transported for further treatment.

“No injuries were immediately reported after a rollover crash Monday morning near Brookview Drive in Washington.”

Investigation Ongoing

Police are still investigating the cause of the crash. Preliminary assessments suggest that the driver may have lost control of the vehicle due to speeding or a possible medical event, though nothing has been confirmed. No citations or charges have been filed as of Monday afternoon.

The construction site, part of a growing residential development near Brookview, will require an inspection to assess the extent of the structural damage. Builders were expected to return to the site Tuesday to begin cleanup and determine any impact to the project timeline.

Authorities have asked drivers to remain cautious when traveling through residential construction zones, especially during morning traffic hours. Additional updates are expected as the investigation continues.
