
Construction teams are increasingly using wearable technology to document field conditions and communicate how projects progress from installation to completion. Power Design is using Meta Ray-Ban smart glasses to capture first-person footage from job sites across several U.S. markets as part of its “Field Feed” initiative.
Launched in 2026, the initiative provides footage of installations, walkthroughs and daily construction activities from the perspective of Power Design’s field teams. The company has featured four projects in Raleigh, McKinney, Las Vegas and Weehawken.
The Strand in Raleigh, North Carolina, was the first project featured through the initiative. The high-rise residential development includes nearly 400 apartment units and involves multiple Power Design scopes.
Teams are supporting VDC, electrical, mechanical, lighting and fixtures, life safety, distributed antenna systems, low-voltage and energy work. Field footage captures construction activities directly from crews working on the project.
The project demonstrates how wearable cameras can document multiple trades operating within a large residential development while providing visibility into work that is normally seen only by project teams.
At Sunset Amphitheater in McKinney, Texas, Power Design is documenting construction activities as the venue progresses. Footage includes power and conduit routing before wall assemblies are closed, drywall installation and walkthroughs around the active site.
Power Design is providing VDC, electrical, fixtures, life safety and low-voltage scopes for the project. The field documentation provides a visual record of systems installation and changing site conditions during construction.
The Four Seasons project in Las Vegas, Nevada, represents another application of the Field Feed approach. The high-rise development covers more than 1 million square feet, with footage showing mechanical equipment and building systems as construction advances.
The project includes VDC, electrical, fixtures, life safety and low-voltage work. Field footage highlights equipment such as chillers, pump skids and fire pump rooms, giving viewers visibility into mechanical spaces and system installation.
At Port Imperial in Weehawken, New Jersey, Power Design is documenting work at a waterfront high-rise overlooking Manhattan. Crews are shown working on open decks during structural construction, while Power Design’s scopes include electrical, fixtures, life safety, distributed antenna systems and energy systems.
The four projects demonstrate different applications for first-person construction documentation, from residential towers and entertainment venues to complex mechanical installations and waterfront high-rise development.
For construction owners and project teams, wearable cameras can provide another method for documenting site progress and sharing field activity. The footage can also offer a direct view of installation conditions and project milestones without relying solely on conventional photography or scheduled walkthroughs.
Power Design said additional Field Feed content will follow as its teams reach new project milestones across the country.
