Residential service contractors are increasingly combining HVAC and plumbing capabilities to broaden the range of building systems they can maintain, repair and replace. Presidential Heating & Air Conditioning has expanded its service portfolio through the acquisition of Shipley Plumbing, Heating & Air Conditioning, adding plumbing operations to its Montgomery County market.
The acquisition became effective Aug. 24 and brings Shipley’s plumbing operations under the Presidential brand. The expanded service offering includes drain clearing, water heater maintenance, repair and replacement, fixture installation and other plumbing work.
Presidential already provides residential heating and cooling maintenance, repair and replacement services. The acquisition allows the operation to address both HVAC and plumbing requirements through a broader service platform.
Shipley was founded in 1982 and has served customers in the Montgomery County area. The transition is expected to maintain the existing local service operation while integrating Shipley’s plumbing capabilities with Presidential’s HVAC business.
Presidential is part of Southern Home Services, a network of residential HVAC, plumbing and electrical service businesses operating across multiple U.S. markets.
The acquisition follows Southern Home Services’ broader approach of expanding established local operations through complementary service capabilities. For Presidential, the transaction adds plumbing expertise while increasing the range of services available to its existing customer base.
Financial terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
The combination of HVAC and plumbing operations reflects continued consolidation among residential building-services providers. Local service businesses offer established customer relationships and skilled trade workforces, while larger networks can provide centralized operational resources and training.
For contractors and owners in the residential services market, acquisitions such as the Shipley transaction demonstrate how established HVAC operations can broaden their capabilities by adding adjacent mechanical trades. The approach can also create a larger platform for recruiting, training and deploying skilled technicians across related service categories.
Presidential’s acquisition of Shipley expands its plumbing presence without requiring the business to establish a new operation from scratch. The transaction also strengthens Southern Home Services’ network in the Montgomery County market by combining two complementary residential service disciplines under one operating platform.
