
Flood protection construction in Port Arthur, Texas, has reached a key enabling-work milestone as crews prepare to construct new pump station foundations within a controlled work area.
Pulice completed a temporary cofferdam in Zone 5 of the Port Arthur Floodwall & Levee Raise Project, identified as PAV03A by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. The cofferdam will isolate the construction area and allow crews to perform foundation work without water intrusion.
The completed cofferdam establishes the conditions needed for the next phase of construction at one of the project's major pump stations.
Work at the facility will include construction of new foundations and installation of 10 vertical lift gates. The pump station improvements form part of a larger flood protection program intended to improve the performance of Port Arthur's hurricane protection system.
