QTS Data Centers has committed $1 million to the Northern Virginia Science Center Foundation, becoming a title partner for the future Northern Virginia Science Center and strengthening efforts to expand STEM education and workforce development across the region.
The investment supports the Foundation's Launch the Future campaign and is aimed at creating hands-on science, technology, engineering and mathematics learning opportunities for students, educators and community members. The initiative also seeks to help build a stronger pipeline of future workers for Northern Virginia's growing technology and digital infrastructure sectors.
As part of the partnership, QTS will sponsor The Cloud exhibit and Studio II within the May Innovation Center. The Cloud is an interactive installation designed to demonstrate the fundamentals of digital computing by responding to visitors' mobile device signals, while Studio II will host school field trips, camps and community learning programs.
Foundation officials said the partnership reinforces Northern Virginia's role as a global hub for digital infrastructure while expanding access to science education for learners of all ages.
QTS executives noted that supporting STEM education aligns with the company's long-term commitment to workforce development and preparing future talent for careers in technology and digital infrastructure.
The Northern Virginia Science Center is currently under construction in Sterling, Virginia, within the Kincora Development along Route 28. The facility is expected to open in mid-2027 as part of the Science Museum of Virginia's statewide network.
Once completed, the center will offer interactive exhibits, educational programming and community engagement opportunities designed to inspire interest in science and technology while supporting regional economic growth through workforce development.
The partnership represents another milestone in the science center's fundraising campaign as it continues to secure support from industry partners ahead of its planned opening.
