RDO Expands Aberdeen Store

Caroline Raffetto

ABERDEEN, S.D. — RDO Equipment Co. is reinforcing its commitment to farmers and contractors in South Dakota with a major expansion at its Aberdeen location. Construction is underway on a 23,000 square-foot shop addition — one of the dealership’s largest facility updates in the region in recent years.

The project will add a brand-new wash bay, additional workspace for service managers, and a modern transition area that includes a refreshed breakroom for employees. The improvements are designed to boost workflow efficiency, expand service capacity, and help the team deliver quicker turnaround times on repairs and equipment servicing.

"This update reflects our commitment to continuous improvement and delivering even better support to our South Dakota customers," the dealership stated in a Facebook announcement.

RDO Equipment, which ranks on the Farm Equipment Dealer 100™, is known for its broad footprint in the farm and construction equipment markets, representing major brands like John Deere. The company operates over 75 locations across the U.S., serving customers from the Upper Midwest to the Southwest.

The Aberdeen expansion is a response to rising demand for larger, more advanced equipment and the need for modern service centers capable of handling today’s high-tech machines.

“Dealerships that invest in upgraded shops and tools make it easier for farmers and contractors to keep their equipment running when it matters most,” said one industry observer. “This expansion shows RDO understands the evolving needs of its customers.”

The added wash bay will help ensure equipment is cleaned more efficiently before and after servicing — an important step for maintenance and longevity. The new transition area and breakroom upgrades are also a boost for employees, who will have better spaces for rest and collaboration during long workdays.

Community Impact

The project will support local construction jobs during the build phase and is expected to help RDO recruit and retain skilled technicians — a critical need as labor shortages continue to challenge the agriculture and construction industries.

Looking Ahead

Once complete, the expanded store will be among the company’s flagship locations in the region. RDO plans to host customer appreciation events and equipment demos to showcase the upgraded facility and highlight its expanded capabilities.

The Aberdeen project is part of RDO’s wider push to modernize and expand its network. In recent years, the dealership has completed new builds and major remodels at locations in North Dakota, Minnesota, and Texas to accommodate the demands of precision ag equipment, larger fleets, and a growing base of construction and commercial customers.
