The Regional Transportation Commission of Washoe County (RTC) will kick off new construction work at two key Reno locations starting July 14 as part of its 2025 Bridge Maintenance Project.

According to an RTC release, crews will begin preventative maintenance on University Way, including patching, loop improvements and slurry seal work. Drivers should plan for intermittent detours and some full closures along University Way through July 17.

Meanwhile, the Evans Avenue Bridge will undergo resurfacing and will be fully closed from July 14 through July 23.

This marks the latest progress in RTC’s annual bridge upgrade initiative, which has already addressed the Ralston Street and Valley Road Bridges. The Kuenzli Street Bridge is also scheduled for repairs later this summer.

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead for detours and check the RTC Washoe website for real-time updates and traffic information.

The 2025 Bridge Maintenance Project is part of RTC’s commitment to keeping Reno’s infrastructure safe and extending the life of key roadways and bridges across Washoe County. Routine resurfacing and preventative maintenance help prevent larger, costlier repairs down the line.

The Evans Avenue Bridge connects neighborhoods near the University of Nevada, Reno, and serves as an important link for commuters and students. The upcoming closure will temporarily reroute traffic to nearby crossings.
