Community-Built Hospital in Riverton Officially Branded as River Peak Health

Riverton’s long-anticipated hospital project has taken another major step forward—not in construction, but in identity.

After nearly a year of building efforts, the Riverton Medical District has officially unveiled the facility’s name: River Peak Health.

“We just had our name reveal on Monday night [Oct. 7] to the community,” said board member Vivian Watkins. “Welcome to the new River Peak Health.”

The name, she explained, wasn’t chosen through consultants or corporate branding exercises. Instead, it was inspired directly by Wyoming’s natural landscape.

“How we came to that is our landscape in Wyoming. We are rivers and mountains and rolling hills, and so to us, River Peak just depicted our entire surrounding in Wyoming,” Watkins said.

Construction Progress Remains Steady

Construction on the 71,000-square-foot facility began in December and has now reached nearly the halfway point.

“We are now 47% complete, so that is just incredibly exciting,” Watkins told Wyoming News Now.

With winter approaching, the focus is on sealing up the building.

So far, crews have enclosed the main floor and penthouse, and according to Watkins, the next phase is coming quickly.

“Next we will be installing glass, all of our running board and our stone, and then we will be all closed in and ready to work all winter,” she said.

Built for Full-Service Care

Once complete, River Peak Health will house:

  • 24/7 emergency and trauma care
  • Primary care services
  • Orthopedics
  • Full surgical suites with round-the-clock capability

Unlike many rural hospitals that operate with limited services, River Peak is being designed with comprehensive care in mind, reducing the need for residents to travel to larger cities.

A Community-Backed Project

Construction remains on time and on budget for the estimated $37 million project, something Watkins attributes to unwavering community support.

Our community has been behind this project from day one,” she said.

If progress continues at this pace, officials expect the hospital to be fully completed by fall of next year.
