The initiative reflects Saunders’ ongoing commitment to community engagement, with a focus on improving the lives of children dealing with cancer and other life-threatening medical conditions.

Supporting Families Beyond Medical Challenges

HopeKids Colorado provides a unique model of care centered on community and shared experiences. Instead of focusing solely on medical treatment, the organization creates opportunities for families to participate in uplifting activities such as concerts, sporting events, museum visits and more.

“We are so grateful to be selected for this partnership,” said Robbin Brown, executive director for HopeKids Colorado. “A big part of the HopeKids mission is using our calendar of events to create an environment where families can easily find support and build friendships with others who truly ‘get it.’ It might be a cancer family meeting a kidney transplant family, but that instant connection can offer incredible comfort. This collaboration with Saunders Construction will help us continue providing more events for families and strengthening the supportive community that makes such a difference in their lives.”

BCiK Program Expands Community Impact Through Partnership

Since its launch in 2009, Saunders’ BCiK program has played a key role in connecting employees with nonprofit partners through hands-on involvement. The initiative includes fundraising efforts, volunteer opportunities and strategic support designed to create lasting impact.

Through this new partnership, Saunders employees will actively contribute to HopeKids’ mission by participating in events and initiatives that directly benefit families.

“We look forward to the amazing opportunities this partnership will bring—both in supporting families served by HopeKids and in creating lasting volunteer experiences for Saunders employees,” said Cassie Bonner, BCiK committee chair and senior project engineer.

Events and Fundraising to Strengthen Long-Term Support

Over the next two years, the partnership will include a range of collaborative activities aimed at expanding HopeKids Colorado’s reach. These efforts will focus on enhancing programming, increasing access to events and building stronger community connections.

One of the key upcoming initiatives is the Building Confidence in Kids Clay Shoot, scheduled for October 2, 2026. The event is expected to bring together industry partners and supporters to raise funds and awareness for HopeKids and the families it serves.

The partnership between Saunders Construction and HopeKids Colorado also reflects a growing trend within the construction industry to align business operations with meaningful social impact initiatives. By integrating philanthropy into its long-term strategy, Saunders is not only supporting families facing critical health challenges but also strengthening its connection with the communities where it operates. Programs like Building Confidence in Kids® go beyond traditional donations by encouraging employee participation, which fosters a deeper sense of purpose and engagement within the workforce. Over time, this type of collaboration can create lasting benefits, helping nonprofits expand their reach while enabling companies to contribute to community resilience and well-being in a more direct and sustainable way.
