Shimmick has been selected as ENR West's 2026 California Contractor of the Year, acknowledging the company's continued expansion in infrastructure construction and its focus on specialized self-perform services across the western United States.
The award recognizes Shimmick's growth strategy as it continues delivering projects in the water, transportation, energy and heavy civil sectors.
Over the past year, Shimmick expanded its operations with the launch of Axia Electric LLC, a business focused on transportation electrification, grid modernization, utility improvements and energy resilience projects.
The company also continued to strengthen its position in water infrastructure, transportation construction and heavy civil markets through a combination of new project awards and expanded in-house construction capabilities.
During 2025, Shimmick secured more than $156 million in infrastructure contracts across California and Washington. The work included water and electrical system improvements in Southern California as well as the Bellota Weir Modifications Project in Stockton, California.
In addition to the ENR West recognition, Shimmick received several industry awards for project delivery, including the AGC of California Heavy Civil Constructor Award and two California Transportation Foundation honors.
