Technology investments that improve project execution and operational efficiency continue to reshape construction management, and Skanska USA Building is expanding its internal digital capabilities to support that effort. The company has established a Digital Transformation and Solutions Team to integrate artificial intelligence, data and emerging technologies into project delivery and day-to-day business operations.

Digital Leadership Structure

The newly formed organization brings together Skanska USA Building's Data Solutions, Emerging Technology and AI functions under a single leadership team. The initiative is intended to improve how digital tools are developed, deployed and adopted across the business while aligning technology investments with project and operational needs.

Will Senner has been named Senior Vice President of Digital Transformation and Solutions. Based in Durham, Senner will oversee the new organization while serving on Skanska USA Building's Operations Leadership Team. The Digital Transformation and Solutions Team will report directly to Chief Operating Officer Chris Toher, placing digital initiatives within the company's core operating structure.

Senner has more than two decades of experience with Skanska, including engineering, preconstruction and regional leadership roles. Most recently, he led preconstruction activities for the Mid-Atlantic and Metro New York regions while overseeing the company's Data Solutions Team.

AI Tools Supporting Project Delivery

Skanska said the centralized organization will expand the use of AI-powered applications that convert historical project data into decision-support tools for project teams.

Among the technologies currently in use are Expert Sidekicks and Skanska Metriks Cost Modeling, which help identify project risks, support planning activities and improve operational decision-making through data analysis.

According to Skanska, its Sidekick suite has grown from an initial pilot launched in 2024 to more than 1,000 users working across over 500 projects, demonstrating broader adoption of AI-enabled workflows throughout the business.

Why It Matters

Construction owners and contractors are increasingly evaluating how artificial intelligence can improve project controls, risk management and operational efficiency. By consolidating its digital, AI and data capabilities into a dedicated organization, Skanska USA Building is positioning itself to standardize technology deployment across projects while expanding the use of data-driven decision support throughout its operations. For owners, broader adoption of digital workflows may contribute to improved project visibility, more informed planning and earlier identification of construction risks.
