Innovation in construction operations, technology and business practices is a focus of a joint industry recognition program seeking leaders from mechanical, electrical and sheet metal contracting organizations.
The Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) has opened nominations for its Innovator of the Year recognition. The program is part of the broader MEP Innovator of the Year initiative, which is jointly supported by the Mechanical Contractors Association of America (MCAA), the National Electrical Contractors Association (NECA) and SMACNA.
The initiative recognizes individuals from member companies who demonstrate leadership in advancing innovation and continuous improvement within their organizations and the construction industry.
The program will select one winner from each participating association: MCAA, NECA and SMACNA. The recipients will be recognized at the MEP Innovation Conference, a joint industry event organized by the three associations.
SMACNA members can submit nominations on behalf of fellow contractors through the association's nomination process. Submissions must be completed by Nov. 13, 2026.
The MEP Innovation Conference is scheduled for Jan. 25, 2027, with registration information available through SMACNA's event calendar.
Why It Matters
Mechanical, electrical and sheet metal contractors are increasingly focused on improving business processes and construction operations. Recognition programs such as the MEP Innovator of the Year provide an opportunity to highlight individuals advancing innovation within member organizations and encourage knowledge-sharing across the MEP construction sector.
