Limited field capacity, aging athletic surfaces and constrained maintenance budgets can make recreation facility upgrades difficult for schools and local governments. Sprinturf has opened applications for another round of its LEAP Grant program, offering matching funds for projects that expand access to athletic and recreational spaces.
The third LEAP Grant round is expected to distribute about $500,000 among qualifying schools, municipalities and community organizations.
The program has funded 23 projects in 17 states since its launch in January 2025. Previous awards have supported athletic field replacements, conversions from natural grass to synthetic turf, and new field installations serving baseball, softball, football, soccer and multipurpose programs.
Projects must use synthetic turf as the primary playing surface and incorporate safety measures such as shock-absorbing pads. Applicants must also demonstrate community participation, matching financial resources and plans for long-term maintenance.
Priority consideration is given to projects involving replacement of existing artificial turf, sustainable practices and accessible designs.
The program also considers community conditions, including limited access to quality playing surfaces, aging recreation infrastructure, restricted maintenance resources and insufficient field capacity for local programs.
Beyond grant funding, Sprinturf provides design and installation assistance to selected recipients. For replacement projects, the manufacturer also offers turf removal and infill reclamation services using its own crews and equipment.
Applications are scheduled for consideration ahead of the Nov. 30, 2026, announcement of recipients.
