SR 49 Lane Closures Continue Through Placer County

Construction Owners Editorial Team

PLACER COUNTY — Caltrans is advising drivers to plan ahead as multiple construction improvement projects continue along State Route 49 (SR 49), resulting in scheduled lane closures throughout the Gold Country Corridor between Interstate 80 and the Placer/Nevada County line this week.

The temporary reductions are part of a regional effort to enhance road safety, replace aging infrastructure, and improve pedestrian access along one of the area’s most heavily traveled commuter and tourism routes.

Ongoing Improvements Along SR 49

The lane closures affect different portions of the highway as crews work on the Sidewalk Gap Closure Project, the Safety Barrier Project, and the American River Canyon Roundabout Project. Drivers navigating the corridor should expect delays of 15 to 20 minutes, depending on time of day and traffic flow.

Caltrans emphasizes patience and caution from motorists as crews operate in active work zones.

“Be Work Zone Alert”

Caltrans says these reminders are essential to protect travelers and workers completing long-term improvements that will benefit the entire region.
