SRG Expands with Sisk Scrap Recycling Acquisition

Caroline Raffetto

Dallas, North Carolina-based Southeast Recycling Group (SRG) is expanding its presence in the Southeast metals recycling market through the acquisition of Sisk Scrap Recycling, a long-standing family-run processor with operations in Duncan and Gaffney, South Carolina. The deal, expected to close September 30, 2025, will add two key facilities to SRG’s growing network along the Interstate 85 corridor.

With the acquisition, SRG will operate five facilities—two from Sisk and its existing locations in Dallas and Grover, North Carolina, as well as Spartanburg, South Carolina. Post-acquisition, the company will employ about 150 people across its network.

The deal significantly strengthens SRG’s processing capacity. The company projects that, once fully integrated, its facilities will handle more than 175,000 tons of ferrous scrap and 75,000 tons of nonferrous scrap annually.

The acquisition also preserves a legacy. Founded in 1947 by Ed M. Sisk, Sisk Scrap Recycling has been operated for generations by the Sisk-Knight family, with Travis, Eric, and Jordan Knight continuing their involvement under SRG.

“We are interested in growing our business and the acquisition of Sisk is a great fit with their strategic locations and family culture,” said Paul Siegel, CEO of SRG. “We can really appreciate their sustained success over a very long period of time.”

“Letting go of Sisk Recycling after so many years was not an easy decision, but we found the right partners to continue our family’s journey in the scrap metal business,” said Travis Knight, president of Sisk Scrap Recycling.

The move represents more than just a business transaction; it signals SRG’s intent to expand its influence in the recycling industry while keeping family-owned values at its core. The acquisition strengthens SRG’s presence in the regional scrap supply chain, strategically positioned near industrial hubs along I-85.

By bringing together decades of family tradition from both companies, the partnership is expected to bolster regional recycling infrastructure, provide local job security, and enhance sustainability efforts in both North and South Carolina.
