PESQUERÍA, Nuevo León — Swiss-U.S. company Steelform has officially begun construction on a US$60 million manufacturing plant in Pesquería, reinforcing Nuevo León’s status as one of Mexico’s most dynamic industrial hubs.

The project, which broke ground this month, will create more than 100 formal jobs and strengthen the region’s automotive and steel supply chain, according to the state government.
Pesquería, once a small municipality, has transformed into a magnet for global investment, thanks to the presence of major players like KIA Mexico and steelmaker Ternium. The arrival of Steelform adds to this momentum, expanding the ecosystem of suppliers that sustain the state’s fast-growing automotive industry.
During the groundbreaking ceremony, Governor Samuel García highlighted the region’s booming investment climate.
"Let me tell you that in terms of foreign investment, we've already received US$90 billion in four years. To give you an idea, the government had a record US$9 billion in the previous six-year term. Today, we have ten times that amount; that's the size of Nuevo León, which is why we're a magnet," García said.
The governor emphasized Pesquería’s strategic location and Nuevo León’s competitive edge.
"Every peso, every dollar, or every euro invested in Nuevo León is multiplied; here we offer security, education, healthcare, and the best quality of life so that every company can grow alongside our people," García said.
He further underlined that the arrival of Steelform reflects international confidence in the state’s economic model.
"Nuevo León is number one in everything: employment, income, education, and well-being. Anyone who decides to invest here is not wrong, because this is the best place to be born, grow up, live, and invest," he added.

Steelform is the result of the merger between Steel Warehouse, founded in 1948 in the U.S., and Forming AG, established in 1964 in Switzerland. With existing operations in both countries, the company’s entry into Mexico marks a strategic step to strengthen its North American footprint and better serve automotive manufacturers across the region.
By integrating into Nuevo León’s industrial cluster, Steelform positions itself closer to customers and suppliers, enhancing efficiency while contributing to the state’s long-term economic development.
The groundbreaking was attended by Steelform executives, state leaders, and local officials, who jointly marked the symbolic start of construction. The plant is expected to not only create jobs but also encourage the transfer of advanced manufacturing practices to Mexico, further boosting the region’s competitiveness in global markets.
