Phoenix-based general contractor Stevens-Leinweber Construction (SLC) has announced the acquisition of local construction firm Innovative Building Partners, a move that further strengthens SLC’s footprint in the metro Phoenix commercial construction market.

The acquisition expands SLC’s industry network, in-house talent and operational platform, which spans more than four decades and includes over 17 million square feet of completed or in-progress tenant improvement and ground-up projects across some of the region’s most active corridors and submarkets.
As part of the transaction, Innovative President Thomas Fyffe II will join Stevens-Leinweber Construction as senior project manager, while Benjamin Fyffe, Innovative’s vice president of field operations, will take on the role of senior superintendent at SLC. Collectively, the Fyffe brothers bring experience delivering more than 20 million square feet of ground-up and tenant improvement space, including what was once the largest speculative development in Phoenix history.
Notable projects in their portfolio include the award-winning Axis Raintree office and parking garage, renovations across the Biltmore and Esplanade retail centers, and facilities supporting the Fighter Country Partnership, a nonprofit organization serving personnel from Luke Air Force Base.
“We are incredibly excited to welcome Tom and Ben to SLC,” said Stevens-Leinweber Construction President and CEO Jamie Godwin. “They are both highly respected members of our industry, with a talent set, team spirit and proactive mindsets that align with our own corporate culture. We’re looking forward to the opportunities that this acquisition brings for us to expand and evolve in a market that we all so highly value.”

Founded in Phoenix in 2023, Innovative Building Partners has quickly established itself as a respected player in the local commercial real estate and construction sector, offering a full range of services across multiple product types. Among its most recent projects is a ground-up, build-to-suit office and warehouse expansion for Consolidated Electrical Distributors, supporting Phoenix’s growing demand for electrical materials and supplies.
Thomas Fyffe emphasized the significance of the transition and the shared values between the two firms.
“As an Arizona native, starting and growing Innovative Building Partners was a truly priceless experience, allowing us to leave the Valley better than we found it,” said Fyffe. “With the support of SLC, we will continue to hold what and how we build close to our hearts, merging our relationships and skills with SLC’s commitment to Promises Made. Promises Kept. We’re thrilled to join the SLC family and we’re looking forward to working together to best serve our trade partners, clients and community.”
Before launching Innovative Building Partners, Thomas and Benjamin Fyffe served as project executive and superintendent, respectively, at Willmeng. Thomas Fyffe is also a military veteran, having served nearly a decade in the U.S. Marine Corps, and is a graduate of Arizona State University’s Del E. Webb School of Construction, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in construction management, graduating Summa Cum Laude as a Del E. Webb Memorial recipient.
The acquisition underscores Stevens-Leinweber Construction’s continued growth strategy in Arizona, as demand for high-quality commercial, industrial and tenant improvement projects remains strong across the Phoenix metro area.
