Community engagement programs can provide construction and infrastructure companies with opportunities to support essential services in the markets where their employees live and work. STV’s Austin team recently supported the Central Texas Food Bank through a volunteer event that combined hands-on food distribution work with employee donations.
STV employees helped sort and pack more than 6,000 pounds of food during the volunteer effort. The food is intended for distribution to families across the Central Texas Food Bank’s 21-county service area.
The Central Texas Food Bank operates a regional hunger-relief network supported by community partners and volunteers. The organization currently works with roughly 250 nonprofit partner agencies to distribute food and connect residents with assistance.
STV’s Austin team also conducted an internal CANstruction competition alongside the volunteer activity. Employees contributed more than 700 canned food items and generated $311 in charitable donations.
The activity added a fundraising component to the volunteer effort while directing additional resources toward food assistance programs in Central Texas.
For engineering and construction organizations, employee volunteer programs can extend community involvement beyond project delivery. STV’s Austin initiative combined employee participation, food donations and charitable giving to support an established regional food distribution network.
The effort also comes as the Central Texas Food Bank continues expanding its distribution infrastructure, including a new Waco facility opened in August 2026 to strengthen food access in the region.
