Transportation contractors pursuing complex design-build infrastructure work continue to expand engineering leadership teams as agencies advance major mobility programs across Texas. Sundt Construction has added a senior transportation design professional to support project delivery and coordination on large-scale transportation assignments in the region.
Chase W. Myers joined Sundt Construction as a design manager within the company’s Transportation Group. His initial assignment will include work tied to the Austin light rail project.
In the role, Myers will coordinate between engineering and construction teams on transportation projects, with responsibilities that include constructability reviews and multidisciplinary design alignment. The position is intended to support project delivery efficiency during design-build execution.
Myers has more than two decades of experience in transportation engineering and project management. His background includes roadway, freeway and corridor improvement work across Texas.
Among the projects cited by Sundt Construction is the SH 71 improvement program in Bastrop, Texas. The approximately $80 million effort converted a four-lane divided highway into a freeway configuration that included overpasses, frontage roads and ramp construction.
Myers also previously worked on the Ronald Reagan Boulevard expansion in Williamson County, where project teams addressed late-stage design modifications while limiting schedule disruption and rework impacts.
Transportation agencies throughout Texas continue to advance roadway and transit investments tied to population growth and regional mobility demands. Design-build procurement remains a common delivery approach for large transportation programs because it allows contractors and designers to coordinate constructability, scheduling and phased construction earlier in the process.
The Austin light rail program represents one of the larger transit infrastructure initiatives currently moving through development in Central Texas, creating opportunities for contractors with integrated engineering and construction management capabilities.
The addition of experienced transportation design personnel reflects the growing importance of coordination between engineering and field operations on complex civil infrastructure projects. For owners and contractors, constructability oversight during design development can help reduce redesign risks, improve sequencing and support cost control during delivery.
Sundt Construction continues to expand its transportation operations as public agencies across Texas advance highway and transit construction programs requiring multidisciplinary project teams.
