Construction companies continue expanding their community investment strategies alongside project delivery, reflecting a broader focus on workforce engagement and corporate responsibility. Sundt Construction has announced a long-term philanthropic commitment that significantly expands its charitable giving and employee volunteer efforts across the United States.

Long-Term Community Investment Strategy

Sundt Construction plans to contribute $65 million to nonprofit organizations by 2035 through the Sundt Foundation and additional corporate giving programs. The commitment is incorporated into the company's 10-year strategic plan and exceeds the amount distributed during the foundation's first 25 years.

The funding will be delivered through quarterly grant programs, holiday giving campaigns, disaster relief efforts and annual charitable events organized by the foundation.

Established in 1999, the Sundt Foundation has awarded more than $20 million in grants to nonprofit organizations nationwide. Employee-owners help direct grant funding through regional committees that review applications and determine local funding priorities.

Volunteer Program Expands Employee Engagement

In addition to its financial commitment, Sundt aims to complete 200,000 volunteer hours by 2035.

According to the company, employees have already contributed 20,000 volunteer hours during 2026. Volunteer activities include community improvement projects, food distribution programs, educational STEM initiatives for K-12 students and support for other local nonprofit organizations.

The foundation's grantmaking supports a range of community needs, including education, foster care, food and housing assistance, healthcare, disability services, veterans, first responders and domestic violence prevention programs.

Why It Matters

For construction owners, contractors and industry partners, community investment initiatives have become an increasingly visible component of corporate strategy. Programs that combine charitable funding with employee volunteerism can strengthen workforce engagement, reinforce relationships with local communities and support long-term social investment in the regions where construction companies operate.
