Growing demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure is driving larger data center developments across the United States. Turner Construction is continuing work on Meta's expanded data center campus in Richland Parish, Louisiana, a project that has become one of the world's largest AI-focused data center developments.
Originally planned to provide more than 2 gigawatts of IT capacity, the campus has expanded to deliver 5 gigawatts across nearly 10 million square feet.
The project represents an investment exceeding $50 billion and is expected to support approximately 7,500 construction workers at peak activity. Once operational, the campus is projected to create more than 1,000 permanent jobs.
Turner has begun interior buildout activities within the first completed buildings while construction continues across the broader campus.
In addition to construction activities, Turner is participating in workforce development, education partnerships and community initiatives in Richland Parish.
The contractor is also supporting project goals related to sustainable construction, responsible resource management and long-term regional investment while coordinating delivery of the campus.
Large-scale AI data center projects continue to generate significant opportunities for contractors, subcontractors and construction suppliers. For owners and developers, projects of this size require substantial labor, specialized building systems and long-term infrastructure investment, reinforcing the growing role of hyperscale data centers in the North American construction market.
