Philadelphia’s skyline — and its sports legacy — are set to evolve once again. Turner Construction and AECOM Hunt, two of the biggest names in sports facility construction, have teamed up to deliver a $1.5 billion basketball and hockey arena that will serve as a new home for the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers and the NHL’s Philadelphia Flyers.

The project, to be developed within the South Philadelphia Sports Complex, will be led by PACT+, a joint venture that also includes prominent local firms Perryman Construction, Hunter Roberts Construction Group, and Camfred Construction. The collaboration marks another major milestone for Turner and AECOM Hunt, who are currently building the Cleveland Browns’ new NFL stadium in Ohio.
“Having Turner and AECOM Hunt on our team is a game-changer as we work to build the most technologically advanced and fan-focused sports and entertainment venue in the world,” said David Adelman, apartment magnate, investor, and part-owner of the 76ers, as well as chairman of the arena partnership between the 76ers and Flyers. “The knowledge this venture brings to the project will ensure we are on the cutting-edge of the next era of how fans experience live sports and entertainment.”
While the official release didn’t disclose the total cost, Adelman’s Future Standard investment firm lists the project’s estimated value at $1.5 billion.
The new site selection marks a decisive shift for the teams and the city. Earlier plans had called for a $1.3 billion arena above a SEPTA station in Center City, but after prolonged debate and community opposition, officials pivoted to South Philadelphia. The revised location now situates the future arena alongside the homes of the NFL’s Eagles, MLB’s Phillies, and the Xfinity Mobile Arena, where the 76ers and Flyers currently play.

“Designed to transform the fan experience for decades to come, this venue will feature cutting-edge amenities for athletes, performers, and visitors alike — setting a new standard in large-scale venue design and construction,” said Jason Kopp, Chief Operating Officer, Central Region at AECOM Hunt.
For Turner and AECOM Hunt, this project expands an already impressive resume of iconic sports facilities. Their combined portfolio includes SoFi Stadium and Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, State Farm Arena in Atlanta, and Barclays Center in New York City. They’re also collaborating on the Tennessee Titans’ new NFL stadium in Nashville, and Turner is simultaneously constructing the Buffalo Bills’ stadium with Gilbane Building Company. Meanwhile, AECOM Hunt is leading the $1.45 billion renovation of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ EverBank Stadium alongside Barton Malow.
The Philadelphia project is slated to open in 2030, aligning with the debut of a new WNBA expansion team that will share the facility.
More than a construction milestone, the new multisport arena represents a major investment in the city’s sports, economic, and cultural future — a space designed not just to host games, but to redefine how fans engage with live entertainment in the decades ahead.
