Construction of a new hospital in Western New York has reached a structural milestone as Turner Construction joined project partners for a beam signing ceremony in Fredonia, marking continued progress on the $224 million Northern Chautauqua Hospital.
The more than 132,000-square-foot facility is being developed to expand access to emergency, inpatient, outpatient and specialty healthcare services for communities across Northern Chautauqua, Cattaraugus and southern Erie counties.
Turner is leading construction of the new 15-bed hospital, which is being developed through a partnership between Kaleida Health and Brooks-TLC Hospital System.
The project is designed around a modern and efficient healthcare environment, with sustainability incorporated into the facility's development. The beam signing marks the placement of a major structural component as construction progresses toward completion.
New York State has committed $124 million to the project, accounting for more than half of the total development cost.
The Northern Chautauqua Hospital is intended to provide a broader range of healthcare services closer to residents in the surrounding communities. Its planned services include emergency care, inpatient treatment, outpatient services and specialty care.
The facility is currently scheduled to open in 2029. Turner is working with the hospital systems, trade partners and other members of the project team as construction advances.
The hospital represents a significant healthcare construction investment in Western New York, combining state funding with health system resources to deliver a new regional medical facility.
For owners and contractors, the project also demonstrates the scale of coordination required for healthcare construction, where structural work must progress alongside requirements for clinical operations, specialized spaces, building systems and long-term facility performance
