Community engagement remains an active part of construction companies’ workforce initiatives, with employee volunteer programs providing opportunities to support organizations in markets where contractors operate. Turner Construction Company recently organized a volunteer effort at the Ronald McDonald House in Albany, preparing and serving breakfast for families staying at the facility.
The September 25, 2026 initiative continued Turner’s more than 10-year relationship with the Ronald McDonald House and its efforts to support families during periods of extended medical care.
Turner employees gathered at the Ronald McDonald House to prepare a breakfast for residents. The organization provides accommodation and support for families who need to remain near their children while receiving medical treatment.
The volunteer activity gave Turner team members an opportunity to contribute directly to families staying at the facility. Beyond providing a meal, the effort was intended to create a welcoming environment for people spending time away from home during challenging circumstances.
Turner’s participation builds on an established relationship with the Ronald McDonald House rather than representing a one-time community activity. The company has supported the organization for more than a decade.
Turner has continued to incorporate volunteerism and community partnerships into its activities across the Capital Region. Employee participation in local organizations provides another way for construction professionals to engage with communities beyond their project work.
For construction companies, these programs can also provide employees with opportunities to participate in activities outside their normal project responsibilities. Volunteer efforts can involve staff from different roles and create direct connections with local nonprofit organizations.
Turner said it plans to maintain its relationship with the Ronald McDonald House while continuing to support organizations throughout the Capital Region through volunteer activities, partnerships and employee engagement.
The Albany volunteer effort highlights the community-facing role that construction companies can play in the markets where they maintain operations and project teams. Long-term relationships with local organizations can provide a consistent channel for employee involvement and community support.
For contractors and construction owners, initiatives such as these also demonstrate how workforce engagement can extend beyond jobsites and project delivery into ongoing participation in local communities.
