A subsidiary of Tutor Perini has secured two major construction contracts in California totaling $408 million, further strengthening the company’s footprint in both the higher education and healthcare construction markets.

Los Angeles-based Rudolph and Sletten was awarded a $155 million contract to build the new Diego Rivera Performing Arts Center at City College of San Francisco, according to a Dec. 17 announcement. The project will deliver a purpose-built facility designed to support theatrical, musical and educational programming on the campus.
The performing arts center will span approximately 78,000 square feet and feature a 631-seat main theater equipped with an 80-foot-tall concrete fly tower, along with a 90-seat fixed recital hall. The building will also house rehearsal rooms, a scene shop, and dedicated costume and music classrooms, providing a comprehensive learning and performance environment for students and faculty.
Construction on the San Francisco project began in December 2025, with substantial completion targeted for fall 2028, reflecting the technical complexity of the structure and its specialized performance spaces.

In a separate award announced Dec. 18, Rudolph and Sletten was selected for a $253 million contract to deliver the Central Utility Plant Expansion at UC Davis Health’s Sacramento campus. The healthcare infrastructure project will support the growing operational and energy demands of the medical campus.
Under the contract, the contractor will construct a two-story, 32,000-square-foot Central Utility Plant Annex Building that will house plant operations and hospital support functions. The scope also includes significant upgrades to both normal and emergency power systems, including the installation of three 3-megawatt generators.
In addition to the new annex, the project includes extensive renovations to the existing Campus Central Plant. Planned work involves upgrades to chilled and hot water systems, reconfiguration of electrical infrastructure, expanded fuel oil storage capacity, modernization of industrial control systems, and renovations to control room and administrative areas.
Construction on the UC Davis Health project is already underway, with substantial completion expected in fall 2027.
Together, the two awards underscore continued investment across California in cultural, educational and healthcare infrastructure, while reinforcing Rudolph and Sletten’s role in delivering large-scale, technically demanding projects for public-sector and institutional clients.
